Tenuta San Carlo is a working farm. The farmhands that live on the property tend to the fields, feed the livestock, maintain the orchard and garden, and do most of the daily work on the property. Horses of the Tuscan region are bred, trained, and sold on the property. Fresh products are grown on site and used to prepare the home cooked meals served to the farmhouse guests.

While the community of Tenuta San Carlo works to keep the farm beautiful and functioning, the wildlife of the area makes up the real and unmatched beauty of Tenuta San Carlo. No matter what season, Tenuta San Carlo is bubbling with wildlife of all kinds that populate the open fields and give the property its unique beauty.

Join the Tenuta San Carlo Social Network! with regular updates about what is happening on the farm.

Wildlife

Wildlife is abundant at Tenuta San Carlo. Mostly wild boar, deer, miniature deer (called daini), and pheasants populate the open fields, but the diversity of wildlife only begins there. There are over fifty species of birds in the park as well as porcupines, foxes, hares, turtles, a wide range of insects, and many more creatures. Many of these animals can be seen during the day while taking a walk or a bike ride toward the beach. The best hours of the day in which to go looking for wildlife are either during the early morning hours or around dusk right before dinner. Most of these animals take refuge in the intense midday heat.
